Security FAQs

Q:
Are my financial details secure?

A:
Yes they are. For online purchases all personal details are entered on an SSL secure server, operated by an established UK registered remote shopping cart provider. Online card payments are processed directly by Sagepay (formerlly Protx), neither we, or the shopping cart provider have access to your full card details. Paypal transactions are handled entirely within the Paypal system. The transaction records that Protx provide only show the last five digits of any card number, enough to identify individual transactions but of no use to the fraudster.

In the case of telephone orders, card numbers are initially recorded on paper, these are then destroyed as soon as the transaction is authorised. For your own security, never send your card details by post or email. If ordering offline please telephone me with your card details.

Q:
What about e-mails?

A:
An order confirmation is e-mailed to every customer that enters a valid e-mail address, this includes an order number, my contact details, a list of items purchased & their value, it does not include any of your personal details.

Q:
Do you use cookies?

A:
Neither this web site or the shopping cart requires cookies, but you will need then enabled to use Paypal.

Q:
What information is retained?

A:
Only that which is required for normal business accounting purposes is retained. All order details are deleted from the shopping cart after their fulfilment. Mailing lists kept for marketing use are strictly on an 'opt in' basis.
