Drill Bit For Fitting of Baseboard Dowels
These drill bits are the correct size for fitting the bullet type baseboard dowels & the cabinet makers dowels. The hole should be 0.5mm smaller than the dowel, giving an interference fit.
These HSS drill bits are really designed for metalworking so lack the central brad that is found in wood bits, there can be a tendency to wander but this can be reduced by first drilling a pilot hole (3mm or thereabouts). HSS drills do not cut as cleanly as wood bits, when through drilling some splintering may occur at the exit, this can be reduced by placing a piece of scrap timber behind.
